Sian Flynn was adopted last night as the Conservative candidate for North Cornwall during an open primary meeting. She will have to overturn a projected LibDem majority of 5,477.
The new candidate issued the following statement:
"My family has had roots in North Cornwall for many years, and I’ve been a regular visitor throughout my life. I am honoured to stand as your Conservative candidate. We are in the process of moving our home here, and, until then, I have a permanent base with family in Wadebridge. I’ve served as a Borough Councillor in Surrey, have extensive experience in the NHS, and the criminal justice system, as well as a background in fundraising. I will bring this depth of experience to North Cornwall, to use for the benefit of all residents, to make sure our voice is heard at Westminster. I will work with all the Cornish MPs to keep our needs high on the agenda.
“I understand local issues, and particularly how housing and farming are areas of great pressure. I will fight for first class public services for our rural area, and to enhance the prosperity of local businesses. I’m a straight talking, no nonsense politician, and will bring that approach to everything I do. I care deeply about the environment and would work with local people to balance the need for economic prosperity with guardianship of the precious jewel that is North Cornwall.”
