ConservativeHome has already reported on James Gray's own letter and its case for him staying as MP for Wiltshire North. Yesterday we noted Michael Howard's endorsement of the embattled west country MP and, interestingly, the support he is receiving from the current chief whip. Today we publish a pdf of the letter being distributed to Association members from Mr Gray's opponents.
The letter is very, very strong - detailing the depth and breadth of hostility towards James Gray amongst former Association Chairmen, local councillors and ward officers. Mr Gray is painted as having used his wife's illness to curry favour with voters and of "riding roughshod" over Tory policy. He is accused of not being a team player and of failing to be honest with Association officers. The letter contains materials that a LibDem opponent could only dream of. Click here to download it.
