Philippa Stroud was selected for the seat of Sutton & Cheam (notional LibDem majority of under 3000) tonight. Tariq Ahmed, Helen Grant and Lynne Hack were shortlisted.
The association was said to have responded enthusiastically to her passion for reaching the disadvantaged through her work as Director of the Centre for Social Justice.
