Criminal barrister Jason Sugarman (a non A-lister) was selected as the Tory candidate for Lewes last night. His parents live in the constituency and he was a district councillor in Lewes. Liberal Democrat Norman Baker held the seat at the last General Election with a majority of 8,474.
Mr Sugarman fought Dudley South in 2001.
Mr Sugarman beat Anne Marie Morris at last night's selection meeting - attended by nearly 150 local Tories. Another contender, Mike Weatherly, had pulled out of the race in order to focus on the Hove selection.
