Last night the Bow Group held its AGM and a new officer team was elected who will serve under the chairmanship of Brian Cattell (pictured).
He has been active in Conservative politics for over ten years, during which time he has served as a Parliamentary Candidate and a councillor in the London Borough of Camden. Outside of politics, he has has been an entrepreneur, setting up his first business in Eastern Europe at the age of 22; a journalist; and also a business consultant to many large international companies focused on emerging markets. Tomorrow he will be wrting for ConHome about his latest research presenting the case for greater UK engagement in Latin America.
In being elected Bow Group chairman, he takes over from Annesley Abercorn and follows in the footsteps of a large number of well known names, including Geoffrey Howe, Michael Howard, Norman Lamont and Peter Lilley. At the general election in May, no fewer than five recent Bow Group chairmen were elected Conservative MPs for the first time: Andrew Jones, Damian Hinds, Sam Gyimah, Kwasi Kwarteng and Chris Skidmore.
Brian Cattell said last night:
“It is a great honour to have been elected as the Chairman of the Bow Group. I believe passionately in the Group’s heritage and its mission to influence the policy debate within the Conservative family. I am confident that we have a strong team in place and the talent to continue to produce fresh and innovative thinking that will help shape the policymaking process in this country.”
