Communication update

Christianwalkerpicture_1 By Christian Walker, CF Exec member

Following the overwhelming support at the Area Chair Training Day for members of the National Executive to update when appropriate the CF membership here we are…

I have spent most of October getting to understand the sporadic communication system of CF. While we all know there is room for improvement it has been encouraging to find areas of strength for example people pushing for better communication at a regional level and also those people that write articles for the website.

However it is also clear we need to work together more, as I predicted I have and continue to experience some frustration in terms of internal communication but this has enabled me to be more focused on changes that are needed.

The key job this year in terms of communication is becoming apparent - this is to deliver a simple joined up system that will enable both existing branches and new ones (especially in marginal seats) to have the support they need.

Initially I believe change needs to occur but this needs to respond to consultation – namely member input.  I am presently working on the shape of the consultation – watch this space.

In terms of an interim solution:

  • We have changed to fortnightly update bulletins so please email me details of events/notices (e.g. appointments) to me if you want to advertise them to a national audience
  • I have made contact with most Area Chairs (if not please email me)
  • Information Packs and Membership Lists for Area Chairmen have been issued
  • An information sheet including details of what should be included in Area Chairman Reports has been distributed
  • A Conservative Future 'Whos-who' list is being compiled for mid November
  • This National Leadership Team Update – all members of the National executive are issuing their monthly updates on CF Diary

Finally please remember if you have a question or issue that needs resolving please do not hesitate to contact me or copy me in so I can follow things up and ensure enquires are dealt with – [email protected]
