Peter Cuthbertson was born in 1983 in Darlington, County Durham. While studying for his first degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) at the University of Essex, he worked part time for The TaxPayers' Alliance and was Deputy Chairman of a large Conservative Future branch. Immediately after graduating, he spent a year in Washington DC with the aim of learning from the American conservative movement, researching foreign policy for Nile Gardiner, Director of The Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at The Heritage Foundation. He has also completed short internship positions in the House of Commons, the European Parliament and the US Congress.
Since returning to the UK in May 2007, Peter worked over the Summer for the Institute of Economic Affairs and has joined the Management Board of the Young Britons Foundation in the hope of encouraging other British conservatives to gain first-hand experience and training from the American conservative movement. In September 2007, he began studying for an LLB at BPP Law School in London.
Peter has had four reports published by The TaxPayers' Alliance on public sector non-jobs and university non-courses and has contributed to two books – The Bumper Book of Government Waste and The Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze . He has written articles for National Review Online, Townhall.com, Human Events Online, TCS Daily and The Heritage Foundation and his work has been reported in The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Daily Express, The Guardian, The Spectator, The Jerusalem Post, The National Post of Canada and by the BBC.
