A little less than a month ago, Admiral Mike Mullen, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (America's most senior military officer) said publicly that
the US national debt posed the biggest threat to its national security - bigger even than that posed by al-Qaeda or weapons of mass destruction.
It got lost in the tsunami of coverage about McChrystal's dismissal, but it's a striking remark, isn't it?
