Enough whining. Here are some things I like about the coalition.
- We have (some) power instead of none.
- By taking office, the Lib Dems will be tainted by the spending cuts, especially given they have taken Chief Secretary, the Cabinet position in charge of spending cuts.
- Once we're forced to cut NHS spending, we can blame the Lib Dems
- Raising the income tax threshold is good
- I'm pleased we are reviewing whether there are cheaper nuclear alternatives to Trident II
- Pleased that the proposal for fixed term Parliaments turns out to be purely cosmetic (since a 55% vote by the house to self-dissolve is enough, all we really do is shift the recommendation to the Queen for dissolution from the Prime Minister to the Commons - no problem)
- It's good that we have support for the Great Repeal Bill in respect of civil liberties
And of course we are implementing lots of other policies that are our policies with which I agree (and lots with which I disagree - but more of that another day).
