Gobsmacking. Jawdropping. Farcical. Obscene. The idea that British taxpayers should be made to bail out Greece and the Euro are all these and more.
Greece currently faces a fiscal crisis brought by decades of bad spending decisions, and the failure of its political class to stand up to the country's militant union movement.
The resulting issues for the Eurozone are similarly self-inflicted. By binding such a disparate range of economies into one currency and interest rate, the scale of a Greece-style crisis was deepened and its impact was extended far across the Continent.
Given that the last people to blame for either of these problems are British taxpayers, it is staggering that the British Government is still refusing to rule out handing our money over to bail out the Greeks.
If, like me, you believe we have more than enough economic and fiscal problems at home without dishing out yet more taxpayers' money to Athens, please sign the petition against the bail out here.
For that matter please send the link on to friends, family and colleagues. We must not let taxpayers be ripped off yet again.
