On the Sunday afternoon and evening before the Tory Conference got formally underway ConservativeHome held an event at Old Trafford with 120 readers, candidates, journalists and clients. The Independent covered it all here.
One person who didn't come was David Cameron. I'm not sure our green leader would have been impressed by the massive sun lamps that adorned the Man Utd pitch. Not a great contribution to global warming!
Our two guests on honour were Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt MP and former Man Utd player and manager, Wilf McGuinness. We learnt that Sir Alex Ferguson may be a red but he doesn't speak for all at United. Wilf admitted to being something of an admirer of Lady Thatcher and photographed below is Jeremy presenting Wilf with a bottle of whisky signed by the former PM:
Some more photographs below (largely of the smaller party that undertook the pre-event stadium tour). My sincere thanks to the European Azerbaijan Society who sponsored the event.
