Sky's Political Editor Adam Boulton has blogged that Dan Hannan is "an arrogant right-winger in love with the sound of his own voice."
That's not fair comment (and it's not helped by the unflattering photo of Dan Hannan used to accompany the blog).
Dan is certainly a brilliant orator but that doesn't mean he's in love with his own voice.
He's certainly a conviction politician but why does that make him arrogant?
On Wednesday I made it clear that Dan's intervention was a very personal intervention that had z.e.r.o. relevance to Tory health policy. The attack on him by the Labour machine and Adam Boulton is getting ridiculous. A politician is entitled to express an opinion without being accused of arrogance and self-obsession. Adam Boulton is in a position of responsibility as a regulated broadcaster. If he wants to become a pundit who makes judgments on people's character he should resign from Sky and join a newspaper.
