It was a shame that George W Bush got booed by what I expect was a predominantly Democrat crowd in Washington yesterday. He has behaved in a very civilised and cooperative way since Barack Obama was elected and transition arrangements have been very smooth. I can't help contrasting this transition with the removal of 'W's from many White House keyboards as Team Clinton moved on eight years ago.
I've certainly had my own experience of Left-wing triumphalism. At an election count in 1997 I was spat at by a Labour supporter. Another Labour supporter told a policeman that revenge was coming for the Miners' Strike.
Does the ideology of the Left make some of their supporters more hateful towards the Right than we are to them - or are we just as bad? I hope it's only twelve months before we can display generosity in victory.
