How about this for a world record for the swiftest u-turn - or at least the most glaring contradiction - in political history?
Vince Cable has been subjected to the BBC News website's five minute interview, complete with a clock ticking down during the encounter.
One minute in, the Lib Dem deputy leader is asked which party he'd favour working with in the event of a hung parliament, to which he replied:
"I'm not tribal and I don't see problems working with people from other parties on either side."
50 seconds later, he was asked if there were circumstances in which he would accept a role in the Government, to which he replied:
"No, I'm not interested in being bought off by this Government or any other government. I'm a party man and I'm here because I'm a Liberal Democrat.
In what way is that not tribal??
