If an estate agent or a mortgage company were currently offering people £1,750 cash up front if they buy a house, despite most commentators predicting at least 15% further falls in house prices, my guess is that various agencies would in due course come calling to investigate mis-selling accusations. So why is it okay for Gordon Brown and Hazel Blears to do it?
