Frank Field in stilleto form at the weekend. This is surely now Labour's main problem; their "leaders" have all drunk deep from the Brown Ail Bottle, and have ingested collective paralysis. Afraid to strike; afraid not to. But indecision is in fact a decision - to do nothing but drift towards the rocks. I am sure the author of the well-known if not well-read book on Courage would have identified the need to take the initiative and start to make things happen. He drew eight portraits of Courage. The Cabinet probably doesn't need to find as many as that within its own ranks. But if it doesn't find even one, it's a problem for us all. Britain deserves and needs better leadership than it's getting. The prospect of this continuing until 2010 is alarming. This is not a Labour leadership crisis; it's Britain's leadership crisis.
