The news today that the Competition Commission wants to see BAA forced to sell three airports is fantastic. Best of all is the suggestion that (I assume) Stansted and Gatwick must be sold. BAA is a lazy, slug like beast, oozing with primordial incompetence (in my opinion). For them improvements are always tomorrow and tomorrow. We need not have a problem with that except that they have damaged our country's reputation by making such a hash of Heathrow and often mess up our holiday and business travel plans.
Three cheers also for Shadow Transport Secretary Theresa Villiers MP who helped make the weather by calling for the effective break up of BAA. She stands vindicated today - making a ballsy case with great success. Now the third runway must be stopped and, I hope, a closer look taken at extra capacity in places like East Kent's Manston airport.
