I updated the CentreRight masthead over the weekend with a quote from my own number one political hero, William Wilberforce: "If to be feelingly alive to the sufferings of my fellow-creatures is to be a fanatic, I am one of the most incurable fanatics ever permitted to be at large."
If you haven't watched Amazing Grace, the film of Wilberforce's life, I recommend it. It's not a great, great film but it's a quicker guide to the abolitionist movement than reading William Hague's brilliant biography.
