Inspired by Thomas Sowell's regular "random thoughts", here are a few minor observations:
* I saw a child having a full-on tantrum today in Tesco's. Her mother did nothing. Admittedly, the child clearly suffered from Attention Deficit Disorder - or, to give it the traditional name, Demonic Possession. But one might have thought that some effort might be made. But then, why discipline your child when you can, you know, not?
* En route to court in Guildford yesterday, I saw something for the first time - someone sporting a T-shirt with Chairman Mao on the front. My thoughts on this topic generally are elsewhere, but I merely wonder if anyone else has seen this repulsive sight in their neck of the woods. Che, one's used to - but Mao?
* Another day of irritating bureaucracy in the courts. The CPS motto is "OUR incompetence is YOUR problem". Hardly unique, but I do resent organisations that (when in a good mood) try to explain their own rubbishness and pass it on to you to deal with, rather than fixing the problem in the first place.
* Think of a day when you really worked hard. Perhaps it was today, I don't know. Think of a day when you earned little for toil.
Now look at this, by Jen-Michel Basquiat:
A piece of garbage similar to this piece of garbage (or not too dissimilar as for the difference between bits of garbage not to matter) is at auction today at Sotheby's, with an expected price of £6 million.
Irritating, innit?
