In a debate held at the Woodrow Wilson Center on “The Economic Effect of Immigration: Implications for Income and Employment of Low-Skill Labor in the United States,” Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, said that mass immigration is not economically sustainable. Amongst academics towing the usual line of “immigration equals growth therefore good”, Krikorian claimed that although immigration helps the US economy grow, the growth will lead to a diminished quality of life and per capita income for Americans in general.
