Given that we are now in the season of U-turns, I have a U-turn of my own I would like to pursue with regards to my recent postings on Conservative European policy.
Although I have some reservations on the supremacy of Parliament issue, I am under no illusion as to who has been the real opposition to the Treaty of Lisbon in the House of Commons: the Conservative Party. Ninety nine per cent of the amendments on the Lisbon Treaty were put down by the Conservative Party, Bill Cash and David Heathcoat-Amory.
To follow up, and to be entirely clear, only the Conservative Party has a realistic chance of saving Parliament from Europe for the nation. For the avoidance of any doubt, and as I have made quite clear on this site, it is the Conservative Party that will affect real change in the renegotiation of Britain’s relationship with Europe.
