The IWAR campaign results have been stunning. 88% support for a referendum. 89% opposition to the Treaty. Well done to Derek Scott and his team (including Michael Gove MP; David Heathcoat-Amory MP; Greg Hands MP; and Nick Herbert MP).
One feature about it that they don't boast enough of is the turnout. An astonishing 36.2%. IWAR compares this to local election results, but the comparison with European Parliament elections is surely the most relevant, and even more impressive. Here are the UK turnouts for all European Parliament elections since they began in 1979:
2004 – 38.8%
1999 – 24.0%
1994 – 36.4%
1989 – 36.2%
1984 – 32.6%
1979 – 31.6%
