A week ago I looked at the disparity in funding between thinktanks on the Left and the Right in Britain. That disparity is nowt compared to the one between the size of US thinktanks and UK thinktanks, as this NYT graphic shows.
The five biggest thinktanks in DC at the moment - Brookings, Heritage, CFR, CSIS and AEI - all had much bigger budgets back in 1983 than IPPR, by far the biggest one in the UK, does now.
Or to put it another way, if you convert the Heritage Foundation's budget into the strong pound and divide it by five to factor in the population differential.... it is still bigger than the five biggest UK centre-right thinktanks combined!
