In today's Telegraph, Janet Daley echoes some thoughts I posted here recently on what has been the real driving force behind multiculturalism, i.e self-hatred on the part of the opinion-forming - and indeed, policy-forming - establishment.
It is arguable too that this has also been the dynamic behind the historic levels of mass immigration (the two, after all, go hand in hand). This has become clearer as the endlessly repeated mantra - that Britain's economy would virtually cease to exist if it were not for immigration - is being increasingly called into question. In which case, millions ask themselves, what was the point of it?
