If the Lisbon Treaty will result in a massive change in the relationship between Britian and the European Union (as William Hague seemed to claim this lunchtime in his speech, 'The European project and democratic consent: Disconnection or reengagement?'), then where are all the Conservative front bench? And then, where are the others? Could be just me but seems like most just aren't too convinced by the whole thing. Believe it or not, there are ordinary voters and taxpayers who not only want a referendum but want to see this issue sorted - or buried - and then they switch on their TV sets and radios and see/hear about near empty debates like this. They ask me, quite rightly, ask what is going on? So, what's going on? I have no idea.
