ToryDiary has compiled some reaction to the "Auschwitz gaffe".
Looks like Ed Balls has succeeded in sparking off another one of those annoying "stories" that involve a danger word such as "racist" and a reporting of how something could be perceived rather than how it was clearly meant. Ben Brogan seemed to spot the danger first and it's now been picked up by the BBC (which follows the Standard Operating Procedures for these stories in headlining it as a "row"), Channel 4 et al.
No-one of objective mind can genuinely think that the Conservatives intended to belittle the Holocaust. Whoever compiled the points in the press release wasn't very careful, but not being press-savvy about something doesn't make it wrong. The lazy journalism that feeds on this stuff is.
