I am tempted to join Alex Deane in his licence fee boycott but a BBC journalist did take me out for a £70 lunch last week so I can't complain too much.
I'm tempted because of the BBC's incredible unwillingness to face up to its critics. It refused to give proper attention to ex-employee Robin Aitken's critique of the Corporation and it is now refusing to publish the Balen report into its coverage of the Middle East (as Sam noted).
I mention this tonight because I notice - courtesy of tomorrow's Mail on Sunday - that the BBC has spent £250,000 of licence feepayers' money suppressing the Balen report. What exactly has the Beeb got to hide?
