I want Hillary to win the Democrat nomination for two main reasons:
- I think she'll be easier for the Republicans to beat (her negatives are stubbornly high) and I'm convinced that on tax, security, free trade and the protection of human life the GOP is preferable.
- If she is elected I think she'll be more hawkish (necessary in this age of grave threats) than Barack Obama who'll put too much faith in do-nothing multilateralist institutions.
The video below - of David Brooks commenting on the Tim Russert show - suggests that the White House agrees with my second point. Brooks contends that Team Bush believes that the former First Lady will protect the Bush legacy.
Obama fans are sure to use Brooks' words again and again to make the (unfair) point that Hillary isn't a real change candidate (that she's Bush in women's clothes).
