Einstein once defined insanity as doing the same thing time and again and expecting a different outcome. In politics, this approach is more likely to be welcomed as a radical, visionary, open-minded and mature. So expect an avalanche of praise from across the Westminster village for Labour MP Chris Bryant's proposal today. Rates of teenage pregancy could be reduced, he suggests, by making contraceptives more easily available to children and through more sex education at a younger age. Now why on earth hasn't anyone ever tried that before? It's quite amazing to think that it took until January 2008 before anyone came up with this strikingly original idea.
