"Top Tories" usually aren't "top" but they are a favourite tabloid describer of every "naughty" Tory.
If you want to become a Top Tory I suggest...
1. Get caught in bed with a goat.
2. Make questionable use of your expenses.
3. Wear inappropriate fancy dress.
4. Attack the party leadership again and again and again. This is the strategy being pursued relentlessly by Edward McMillan-Scott. The Guardian (again today) and the BBC have given him more coverage since he started smearing Michal Kaminski than in the rest of his political career. One of the most interesting features of EMS's pieces is the obsession with Dan Hannan. What can explain this? Jealousy? Fear? Paranoia? Hopefully even the left-wing media will get bored of Mr McMillan-Scott eventually.
