Council Chief Executives expenses revealed
The Mail on Sunday has an investigation into expenses claims of Council Chief Executives. They have used Freedom of Information requests into more than 100 of them. There are only a few examples highlighted which may suggest that most are reasonable - certainly compared to those of MPs.
But there are certainly some questions raised. Should a Chief Executive of Liverpool Council really be spending three nights at The Dorchester Hotel in London for a Human Resources awards ceremony? (Liverpool didn't even win.)
Should the former Chief Exec of Shropshire Council really be charging her £2,102 corporate membership of the Royal Overseas League in London?
What authority do these people have to challenge wasteful spending elsewhere in the Council when they behave in this way?
