Pickles comments on the "non-cooperation" story
The Guardian today picked up on Pickles' speech to Conservative councillors at the start of the month urging them to sometimes "say no" to the Government's demands of them.
In the second instalment of Pickles' video diary he says he is not taking a Conservative victory for granted, there is still a lot to do, but that Conservative Councils should not spend too much time helping the government plan for a Labour fourth term:
The TPA has welcomed a letter Eric sent out last cautioning Conservative councillors against the bin tax.
> This is the second in a series of videos from Eric. The first is here.

I love pickles so much!

What a star! Eric's authority and reputation is second to none because he has delivered success and results. He is leading from the front. Eric is a straight talker and that's what voters understand and like.
The key message is that Conservative councils are elected to deliver Conservative policies and Conservative solutions. They are not elected to deliver the policies of the Labour government. As Eric said, it is time to say NO.

The trouble is that if they DO say NO ( and why shouldn't they!!!), they are penalised by this shyster lot of political activists that pretend to be politicians!
Penalised by being 'capped', or in other ways, the evilness of this particular action is that although it appears to give SOME people in this government a sort of sadistic pleasure to inflict these measures, there are also Labour voters in these constituencies (or WERE!) - council boroughs, who are equally affected, and therefore deprived, but the Labour politician wouldn't care about them!!!

Would Eric like to suggest some areas for this non-cooperation? I think he needs to be careful about suggesting that Conservatives in local government are "helping the government plan for a Labour fourth term" in the absence of evidence...
