Andrew Bridgen selected for Leicestershire NW
Former Royal Marine officer Andrew Bridgen, 42, was selected in NW Leicestershire last night. A local candidate, Andrew runs a family produce business in Measham.
The losing finalists were Sharon Buckle, who was also in the South Derbyshire final on Tuesday, and Rowena Mattu.
David Taylor currently holds the seat for Labour with a majority of 4,477.

Congratulations!

I don't know Andrew but I wish him every success in a seat that we would need to win in order to have a majority in Parliament after the next Election. I would, however, be interested to hear what relation Rowena Mattu is to the Chairman (or former Chairman if he isn't still in post) Sudesh Mattu.

I had the pleasure to meet Andrew during the selection process for South Derbyshire and he is the perfect candidate for this seat. He has already gained the respect of David Taylor and I know he will make an extremely strong challenge.
I look forward to supporting Andrew in his campaign. Well done!

Hearty congratulations. An excellent PPC - straight talking, hard working and a self-made success. A great example for young people too starting out in business. I know Andrew and totally recommend anyone that doesn't yet know him to watch this space!

Finally North West Leicestershire gets a local candidate with visably local roots. And to add to that, he's not some drip of a local councillor either. David Taylor, if indeed he stands again, should get a seriously good run for his money.

I can see taylor going at the next general as a lot of labour support is going to the BNP in Northwest Leicestershire

Someone over at PB.com is reporting that the Labour MP David Taylor plans to step down?
Does anyone have confirmation of this?
