Karen Bradley selected for Staffordshire Moorlands
A-lister Karen Bradley has been selected for Staffordshire Moorlands. Anthony Wells estimates that this seat now has a notional Conservative majority of 1,035.
Karen's selection will be a relief for CCHQ after a string of men had been selected in other seats. Karen worked in the CCHQ Policy Unit before the last election and, as a tax specialist, has advised George Osborne and Theresa Villiers. She wrote this piece for ConservativeHome - on Winning in the land of the Liberal Democrats - before May's local elections.
ConservativeHome will update the 'running score' of selections after West Worcestershire has chosen later today.

Wonderful news. Karen Bradley is clever, down-to-earth and conservative. She will be a GREAT Tory MP.

I'm in 100% agreement with you, CCHQ Spy. Well done Karen.

Karen's selection is superb news, both for her and the Party. I have worked with her advising Theresa V on tax and Karen is bright, switched-on and, most importantly of all in a tight marginal like Staffs Moorlands, very personable.

Good on her. One thing I have noticed over the last few weeks is that Heather Wheeler (also in the final 3 for Staffs Moorlands) keeps doing well in Midlands selection races. As the leader (IIRC) of the Conservatives on South Derbyshire District Council, I would think that she is the perfect candidate for that (key target) seat. I hope that South Derbs is in the next tranche of seats so that she can be selected there and start campaigning in earnest.
