Oh dear what a muddle!
Any linguists will tell us that the meaning of a word is determined by its context - NOT by its etymology (its origins and how it has been used in the past). The real culprit here is the journalist who chose to translate this as 'holocaust'. Hyped up western news reports have a marked tendency to create violent reactions in the Palestinian territories. Innocent people may well die as a result of this piece of journalistic stupidity.
