Cameron destroys Brown
...because of course the mess that is this Budget belongs to him, not to Mr. Darling.
And I'm not asking you to take my word for it. Just read the live reactions over at Political Betting . Posts on Cameron's response start at post # 183. The site is one of my favourites for polling analysis and cross-party comment. A sample of the posts on Cameron's reply, starting with Mike Smithson, respected poll analyst and owner of the website:
"This is a much better budget response from Cameron than we have seen in recent years." by Mike Smithson
"Good attack start from Cameron. Pointing out that NR blasts the golden rule." by David Roe
"This is good from Cameron. Keys into the national mood." by Matt
"Cameron showing how to deliver a speech. Maybe Darling needs to take notes." by David Roe
"He does look pretty commanding to me." by Andrew G
"The tory team must have worked ultra quickly on this response, impressive in ferreting out the hidden figures" by ukpaul"
"Ed Balls heckled. Cameron said something along the lines of “I know the Minister for Children etc. desperately wants to be Chancellor, another budget like this and he might get a chance”. And as I speak another one! “I know he’s Minister for children, but he doesn’t have to act like one” - by Andrew G
There's a lot more at PoliticalBetting, and it makes an instructive read.
Also, taking the opportunity to kick Ed swiftly in the Balls along the way.
Much better work than last year, Dave! Good work from your rapid rebuttal minions.
Keep up the pressure now.

Well spotted Louise, DC destroyed Brown with ruthlessness and Darling with pity.
Did you notice another blog on Political Betting entitled
"should BBC politics be outsourced to one of these" meaning the American channels like CNN, ABC, Fox etc
I have to say that the BBC coverage today was another exercise in banality and pro Labour propaganda. I followed the budget and DC,s reply on the Parliamentary channel.
I,ve been following the US elections mostly on the FOX channel and have to say their coverage is first class, they treat the viewers like intelligent grownups and are fairly unbiased.
One programme Hannaty (republican)and Colmes (democrat) is at least balanced whereas most of the interviwers on BBC, Channel 4 etc are usually biased to Labour,, as for Sky, well they follow what Murdoch tells them. Just now pro labour because they might loose money if the Govt. forces them to sell their ITV shares.
Political Betting asks the following,
"Where are the Wolf Blitzers, Tim Russerts or Chuck Todds of British TV? I am sure the talent is here but the bosses haven’t worked out what their programmes should be about".
You can add to that Bill O,Reilly, Hannaty and Colmes plus Brit Hume,s anchoring of the Election results is first class.
Astonishingly no Andrew Neil fronting the budget programme today, I guess Nulab probably thought he would be too hard on them.
So what we need is for a channel like Fox to set up in the UK, a channel that is modern, unbiased, doesn,t treat the viewers like children and has the likes of Andrew Neil, Richard Littlejohn and yes even John Humphreys and Paxman all interviewing MP,s etc in "no spin" zones.
I agree Martin C good work by DC and the team,, very professional and yes keep the pressure on.

"Cameron Destroys Brown "
What utter rubbish , Cameron was pathetic ! He acts like a spoilt child and has no class at all. We need a leader with some substance not just PR and Spin. Osbourne was not much better later.
He,s just like Blair , a Limp Imposter ! We are walking into another defeat !! Wake Up !!!

I agree Cameron is not making sufficient progress to secure a Conservative victory. I've talked to many former Labour voters who are dismayed at Brown but extremely reluctant to back Cameron who they see as out of touch.
