Sad news for Westminster villagers

Tevere A few days ago Robert Halfon regretfully noted the closure of a "wonderful village shop" in his beloved Harlow and its replacement with a Booze Busters store.

Unfortunately something not too dissimilar has happened in Westminster.

Tevere was a lovely little cafe on the corner of Great Peter Street and Marsham Street.

I've often sat at one of its wooden tables (pictured on the right) for one of its trademark cooked breakfasts or lunchtime pasta dishes.

John Major famously ate there.

MPs, journalists, Danny Finkelstein and Lord Ashcroft have all been regulars.

Sadly it's closed down - bought for a large fee by Pret a Manger.  What a terrible shame.
